Short-Term Rental in Baltimore City is a rental of all or a portion of your home for less than 90 nights.
Both hosted (owner-occupied) and un-hosted (non-owner occupied) units must be registered and licensed.
To obtain a rental license for Short-Term Rental, the property must be the owner's principal residence, deeded in the owner's name (not a company), and free of any code violations.
The Baltimore City Council passed Ordinance 19-217 (Council Bill 18-0189) which establishes requirements for Short-Term rentals, including licensing.
All Short-Term rentals must be licensed.

New short-term rental applications and renewals require creating a new online account and registration in the new online portal.
Hosted units require the owner to reside in the property with the guest(s) during their stay.
Hosted units can renew or apply for a new license using the online portal.
Un-hosted units must already have an existing short-term rental license and can renew their license using the online portal.
No new licenses are being issued for un-hosted units.
To renew an existing/expired short-term rental license, a claim code is required.
The claim code will be sent to the email address associated with the original short-term rental registration account.
