  • The ordinance requires all short-term rentals within the City to have a Short-Term Rental Permit and a Business License before allowing occupancy.
  • All current short-term rentals have 120 days from the effective date to comply with the new regulations.
  • Short-term rental (STR) is defined as the use and enjoyment of a dwelling unit for less than 30 consecutive days in exchange for valuable consideration, excluding hotels, motels, bed and breakfast establishments, and inns.
  • Both owner-occupied and non-owner-occupied short-term rentals must obtain a permit before renting.
  • The permit fee is $100 per year per unit for owner-occupied and $250 per year per unit for non-owner-occupied. There is also a $50 annual application fee.
  • Permits are valid from July 1st to June 30th each year, and renewal applications must be submitted by July 1st. Late renewal applications will incur a $100 fee.
  • Only owners or responsible local representatives residing within 45 miles of the STR property can obtain or renew a permit. If the owner resides outside of 45 miles, they must have a responsible local representative.
  • A responsible local representative is someone residing within 45 miles of the STR property and designated by the owner as the agent responsible for operating the property in compliance with the City's ordinances.
  • The STR ordinance becomes effective on May 4, 2023. Current STR owners have 120 days to obtain the permit without penalty. New STRs must have the permit before renting.
