- The City of Los Angeles began enforcing the Home-Sharing Ordinance on November 1, 2019.

- Non-compliance with the Home-Sharing Ordinance may result in daily fines.
- Hosts must register with the City and post their registration number on all advertisements.
- There are two types of home-sharing registration: standard (up to 120 days per year) and extended (more than 120 days per year).
- To register, hosts must meet eligibility requirements and provide documentation of primary residence.
- Hosts must verify that their property is not subject to the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) or other affordability restrictions.
- Renters must obtain written approval from their landlord to participate in home-sharing.

- The City's compliance system monitors short-term rental listings and initiates enforcement for unregistered listings.
- Hosting platforms and hosts are required to provide information and maintain logs of home-sharing activity.
- The City has a 24/7 Complaint Line for reporting concerns or complaints about home-sharing.
- The City has entered into a Platform Agreement with Airbnb.
