- Short-term rental registrations and licenses are required for certain types of short-term rentals
- Hosts must apply for a short-term rental license and list the registration ID number on all platforms
- Exempt properties include those only renting a bedroom or for 30+ day rentals, but may still require indication of exemption on the platform
- Short-term rental registrations require a management plan, liability insurance, neighbor notification, posting a floor plan in the unit, and including the property's rental license registration number in the online listing
- If you own both short-term and regular rental units in the same property, you need to license them separately
- Short-term registrations cost $50, no fee to change a regular rental license to a short-term license
- Owners are limited to one short-term rental property in addition to their homesteaded property
- In buildings with 20 or more units, no more than 10% of the units can be short-term rentals
- Property owners and managers should complete a management plan, obtain liability insurance, inform neighbors of guests, and provide a floor plan indicating exits and escape routes
- Application packet includes application form, management plan, neighbor notification letter example, sample floor plan requirements, and rental license inspection checklist
