- Operators and facilitators of hotels, motels, or other short term rentals in Mission Viejo must collect a Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT).
- The TOT is 8% of the rent charged for occupancy during any 30 consecutive calendar days or less.
- The TOT is collected from each guest (transient).
- The TOT is regulated by Chapter 3.25 of the City Ordinance.
- There are forms available for TOT, including a TOT Form and a TOT Exemption Letter.
- Payments for TOT are due at the end of the month following the quarterly reporting period.
- Payments should be mailed to the City of Mission Viejo, Attention: Treasury, at the address: 200 Civic Center, Mission Viejo, California 92691.
