  • Short-term rentals must provide periodic housekeeping service, including trash removal, on a weekly basis.
  • Short-term rentals cannot be used for commercial purposes, distribution of retail products or services, or outdoor display of goods for sale.
  • Access and layout of the rental must be designed to minimize noise and physical trespass on neighboring properties.
  • If the rental shares common areas with another dwelling, written consent from the owner of the other dwelling is required.
  • The licensee must designate a responsible party who is available 24/7 and can respond to inquiries within 20 minutes.
  • The responsible party can be an individual or property management company residing or maintaining an office in Salt Lake County.
  • The responsible party is personally liable for properly managing the short-term rental.
  • The licensee must have a sales tax collection and accounting number, which must be included on the rental application.
  • All applicable taxes, charges, and fees, including transient room tax, must be paid in full during the period of licensure.
